πŸ›οΈ Bag question β€” say this first

Tell the cashier before they start scanning. Bags are sold separately (β‚©100 each).

λ΄‰νˆ¬ μ£Όμ„Έμš” (Yes, a bag please)

λ΄‰νˆ¬ ν•„μš” μ—†μ–΄μš” (No bag, thanks)

πŸ’‘ Show the phrase on the screen β€” no need to speak.

πŸ“± Barcode scanning

The cashier scans your items.

πŸ—£οΈ The cashier may ask you something about a discount

If an item is a 1+1 / 2+1 deal but the quantity doesn't match, the cashier will check with you while scanning or at payment.

You can also just say you don't want the free item(s) β€” for 1+1, decline the 1 free item; for 2+1, decline the 1 free item. The cashier will handle it and charge you the regular price.

You don't need to understand Korean β€” turn on a translation app's voice/conversation mode (like Papago or Google Translate) beforehand so you can respond in real time.

If you hear words like "discount," "1+1," or "one more," it's almost always about this.

πŸ’‘ Before you check out, it also helps to look at "How to Save" and "How to read a Korean receipt" below.

🧾 How to read a Korean receipt

Jeju Mart Aewol Branch

1+1 Basics
  • For items NOT part of a 1+1 deal (receipt shows: νŒŒμ›Œμ—μ΄λ“œμ œλ‘œP600 / Powerade Zero P600), buying 2 just charges full price for both.
  • For 1+1 items (receipt shows: κ²Œν† λ ˆμ΄μ œλ‘œP600 / Gatorade Zero P600), if you only bring 1 to the counter, the clerk will tell you in Korean to bring one more. This can be confusing if you don't speak Korean.
  • To get the 1+1 deal, you must bring a second identical item. If you don't want it, just say "one only" ("hana-man salgeyo") and you'll be charged full price.
  • If the shelf only has 1 left, Koreans use a "keeping" system to get a mobile coupon for the second item within a month at the same store. This usually requires an app account, making it hard for tourists.

⚠️ Do not eat before paying

All items must be paid for before consuming β€” including pouring hot water into your cup ramen.
